The Center for Hazards Assessment, Response & Technology at the University of New Orleans (UNO-CHART) and FEMA Region VI were recently awarded the John R. Sheaffer Award for Excellence in Floodproofing by the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM). Solutient provides GIS analysis, data research, and custom web development to support CHART’s outreach, which seeks to educate homeowners on floodproofing options. Accepting the award for UNO-CHART was Sarah Stack, along with Ross Richardson of FEMA Region VI. Dale Kirby, Director of IT and Michael Wesley, Director of GIS represented Solutient at the ceremony recently held at the annual ASFPM conference in Reno, Nevada. The award was presented by Al Goodman, Chairman of the ASFPM and ASFPM Executive Director Larry Larson. Solutient developed and maintains the floodhelp.uno.edu project website that provides how-to information to homeowners seeking to floodproof their homes, and online mapping and database search capabilities for community officials to help them identify problem areas and potential solutions.
