Ms. Barnes has over 10 years’ experience with housing programs and the Kenner Housing Authority. She is responsible for determining eligibility to both the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) and the Project Based Voucher (PBV) Program.
Ms. Barnes conducts interviews and advises applicants seeking admission to the housing program, counsels tenants to ensure compliance with Tenant Occupancy Regulations, and issues vouchers to eligible applicants.
Additionally, Ms. Barnes is responsible for processing new admissions, interim changes, and the yearly recertification process for eligible families/recipients, which includes conducting both criminal and employment background checks.
Ms. Barnes oversees landlord participation in the housing programs, which include reviewing tenant leases, Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) contract execution, and monitoring payments to landlords for accuracy and compliance. She also facilitates compliance with all HUD reporting requirements, such as updating the Inventory Management System/PIH Information Center (IMS/PIC) and meeting the performance measures of the Section 8 Management Assessment Program (SEMAP).
Ms. Barnes holds a Housing Specialists Certification.
