Solutient recently won a contract to develop and manage software for a Major League Baseball (MLB) youth program, the third contract the company holds with MLB.

The contract is for the creation and management of software for the Urban Youth Academy (UYA), a program that creates a relationship where a city’s MLB team adopts a youth team. The UYA is designed to be institutional, with classes on all aspects of academic and social behavior in addition to baseball. Through the software created and managed by Solutient, MLB will track youth baseball players across the nation.

The MLB Urban Youth Academy contract has particular significance to The Solutient Corporation as New Orleans has its own UYA, receiving significant media recognition for its work positively influencing the New Orleans community, as seen in The Advocate and The Times-Picayune.

“The success and community support we’ve experienced since the opening of the Major League Baseball New Orleans UYA in 2012 has been incredible,” said NOLA Urban Youth Academy Manager Eddie Davis. “We’re looking forward to doing even better work supporting the youth of New Orleans with the software The Solutient Corporation is providing. The software will allow us to be efficient in our day to day operations. It’s wonderful to be able to work with a New Orleans-based company on this project.”

The Solutient Corporation developed UYA application joins the recently activated RBI application. Both web-based services are expected to continue expanding.

The partnership between Solutient and Major League Baseball illustrates the innovation of this group of local professionals in assisting our national pastime to become more relevant to urban areas. Media across the country is taking note with publications including the Miami Herald and New Orleans CityBusiness recently reporting on the new contract as a significant win for the New Orleans IT industry.
